“Have we forgotten about ‘God’ in our lives? For the majority of us the answer is, “Yes”.
“We are so busy getting on with our lives that ‘God’ is never given a second thought.
“As long as we are thriving and getting on with what we need to do, so the ‘God’ thing is not required, is not needed, is but surplus to requirements.
“It is only when things/situations become dire that we turn to ‘God’ at our convenience. To say that we are all selfish in one way or another can be questionable.
“However it is true that we tend to pick up ‘God’ only when we need ‘Him’ and ignore ‘Him’ the rest of the time – to see ‘God’s handiwork in all creation tends not to be noticed.
“It is only when we are vulnerable and exposed to much fear that we realise we all need ‘Him’ in our lives. This new decade will see massive changes to us both emotionally and economically. How we have behaved in the past will see us either rise or fall.
“We all have to start to learn that until we do and act spiritually and to start to accrue spiritual points in our lives, we really cannot expect much back.
“Most of us have no idea of the Spiritual Investment that is required from us each day in order for it to make that necessary difference to our lives.
“Most of us go through life aimlessly sleep walking, doing the bare minimum of good deeds therefore acquiring little to none in our own spiritual bank.
“It simply never dawns on us that this is what is required of us since the time we were able to reason and comprehend why it is that we are all here. Why we were born in the first place.
“We are not here on this spiritual earth plane to just tend to our own needs and self gratification, but to remember that we are all part of the ‘Godhead’ and therefore empowered to do good amongst our fellow man.
“The snows brought great hardship to so many. We grumbled we couldn’t get to work. Our lives were upset and disorganised. How many of us actually thought of those who were homeless, sleeping rough in conditions of sub zero degrees? They had no food and water and many perished.
“When did our thoughts go out to the elderly and vulnerable who were trapped with little to no provisions? How did we react? What kind of acts of mercy did we perform?
“There were those who did venture out with a good spirit to try and bring comfort to those who were in need, but they were in the minority. Most of us thought about ourselves and of our own comforts.
“The angels of ‘God’, those people who were moved, did bring in relief, provisions and comfort to those in need. They, though unwittingly, did it all for the right reasons. They did answer the call from ‘God’ and did what was needed.
“When their time comes, when they will need a helping hand at some point in their lives, so ‘God’ will be there for them. They will receive the assistance and help they so richly deserve as they stretched out a helping hand, so ‘God’ rewards them by equally offering the hand of help to them.
“‘God’ works continuously for us in so many ways, if only we took the time to see it and start to change our lives in a better more practical and loving way. ‘He’ does make a difference. Don’t ignore ‘Him’ as when out time comes we won’t recognise it is ‘His’ helping hand in our lives when our circumstances change and we ourselves are in need.
“He is always there. Can we really afford to ignore ‘Him’?”
